What we've done

The first season of Barere

1

Recruited 23 children, ages 3–18

Identified vulnerable children across Kibuye and welcomed them into the program.

2

Enrolled every child in formal school at GS Kibuye

Partnered with the neighborhood school to give each child a desk, a uniform, and a daily routine.

3

Held 10+ workshops on wellness, goals, and belonging

Group sessions focused on self-confidence, school motivation, and family relationships.

4

Conducted one-on-one mentoring with every student

Listening to each child as an individual — their fears, their dreams, their immediate needs.

5

Seeded 2 families with startup project funds

Small grants to begin earning income — a first step toward household stability.

6

Provided chickens to every child as ongoing protein

A simple, sustainable hedge against the hunger that often pulls children back to the streets.
